Looking to grab good food (take-away options) in the East? You said it, the Eastern part of Singapore has always been a food paradise! We marked out some must-try foods at the ever-popular East Coast Lagoon Food Village for you to get feasting🍴.
Are you ready? Here is a list of tasty goodness you will not want to miss:
1. Ah Hwee BBQ Chicken Wing & Spring Chicken
Barbequed chicken wings are a must-have when patronising East Coast Lagoon Food Village. Dip these smoky wings 🍗 ($1.30/piece) in their special chilli 🌶 with a good squeeze of lime and your taste buds will be blessed by the food Gods!
Stall Unit No.: #01-14
Opening hours: Mondays to Sundays, 11.30am to 2am
2. Song Kee Fried Oyster
We all crave some fried stuff every now and then and fried oyster (aka “Orh Jian”) is one of those sinful yet delicious foods that is a must-have to pair with the other dishes on your table. This plate of fried oyster ($4) was so generously filled with plump oysters and was beautifully fried with just the right amount of starch to give it a slight crisp. Hands down our favourite dish on the table!
Fun Fact: Did you know that there are two types of fried oyster omelettes 🍳 ? One is called fried oyster which is fried with starch to give it a crispy edge while the other is a fried oyster omelette 🥚 without the incorporation of starch.
Stall Unit No.: #01-15
Opening hours: Mondays to Sundays, 4.30pm to 9.30pm
3. Hwa Kee BBQ Pork Noodles
Noodle lovers out there, be sure to give these pork char siew noodles a try! Doused in a sweet and savoury char siew sauce and topped with shredded char siew slices, these noodles will get you craving for more 🍜. Hungry after cycling around ECP, we decided to get the largest portion ($6). If you are planning to order other dishes to go along, we suggest ordering the $4 and $5 options!
Stall Unit No.: #01-45
Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays, 5pm to 12am. Fridays to Saturdays, 5pm to 12.30am. Sundays, 12pm to 12am.
4. Lagoon Carrot Cake (Popiah)
Even though the stall's name suggests that it is known for its carrot cake, their popiah ($4.20 for two rolls) is also a dish worth equal recognition! The ingredients were all of the right proportions and the turnip (aka Bang Kuang) was cooked just right. The chilli was also not too overpowering. Go give it a try 😋!
Stall Unit No.: #01-40
Opening hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays, 12pm to 10pm. Saturdays & Sundays, 8.30am to 10pm. Closed on Tuesdays.
5. Choon Hiang
Located on the same row of stalls is this stall that serves fried noodles and rice. We ordered this glorious plate of fried Hokkien prawn mee ($5) which is considered more of the "wet" version. Fried with fresh squid 🦑 and big prawns 🦐 , this plate of noodles 🥢 satisfied our wok hei dish cravings!
