Having troubles deciding on where or even what to “dabao” (takeaway) in light of the heightened phase 2 restrictions? Good news to those staying in Punggol, or even those who are planning to head to Punggol! We have picked out a few of the best foods in the area that you can dabao from 👅. YUM!!
If you’re afraid of walking in the heat or even the long-distance, we’ve got you covered! 😉
Unlock an SG Bike 🚲 from any bicycle parking area (Download the SG Bike app to begin!) and cycle to the eateries as you enjoy the cool breeze. No hassle!
Psst... Just like how you’re using an SG Bike to lower carbon footprints, consider bringing your own reusable containers for takeaway (if possible) to play a bigger part towards building a sustainable future 🌍 & also for hygiene purposes!
Alright let’s get started, shall we?
1. Grandma's Recipe
If you’re craving a hearty traditional dish, satisfy your tummy with this rather new nasi lemak stall in town - Grandma’s Recipe. Out of the five different sets that you can choose from, we would recommend you to get the more popular options such as the Yellow Ginger Chicken set or the Fried Pork Belly set. Apart from the usuals like egg, anchovies and peanuts, you can also get to try their homemade achar and sambal 😍. The best part? They are very affordable! 🙌 (Do note that Grandma’s Recipe is only available during breakfast and lunch timings)
Tip: To get the full experience of its authentic flavours, you could consider giving the nasi 🍚 a steam right before you eat it. In just a few minutes, the rich aroma wafting through the air will draw you to it!
Address: 658 Punggol East, #01-10, Singapore 820658
Opening hours: Mondays, Wednesdays to Sundays, 8am to 2:30pm. Closed on Tuesdays.
2. Xian Dan Chao Ren
Named after Ultraman’s Chinese nickname, this food kiosk is the latest addition to the salted egg delicacies 🤤! Their menu consists of a variety of salted-egg munchies such as Chicken, Fish, Pumpkin, Man Tou and Lotus Root, in which you could have it served either “dip” (sauce served on the side as a dip) or “flip” (selected ingredients to be stir-fried with the sauce). If you want a heavy meal, just top up $2 to get a serving of rice and a sunny side-up egg 🍳.
Crispy, creamy, spicy, salty yet sweet - Xian Dan Chao Ren definitely leaves you wanting more! Sounds sinful? No need to worry la.... since you’ll be doing your pre-meal cycling! 😉

3. BBBurgers
Hidden in the basement of Punggol Plaza, BBBurgers specializes in unique burgers 🍔🍔made with Korean Barbecue ingredients that will delight you! Try their popular BB-BUL-GO-GI ($10.50), which consists of well-marinated bulgogi beef slices, white onions, grilled Leek, and their secret SSAMJANG sauce. Opt for the Gochujang Fried Chickin’ ($10.80) instead if you’re looking for some sweet heat in your burger 🌶️ !

With almost 50 years of experience in making authentic Cantonese porridge, Huang Hong Ji Porridge is definitely a must-try if you’re in the Punggol area! An all-time favourite would be their Signature Porridge - Silky-smooth porridge with a mix of fish, meatballs and cuttlefish that is topped off with crispy deep fried pig’s intestines, OooO.. YUM! 🤤
